Features

Everything you need, none of the budgeting cliché.

Out Budget gives you a five-year projection, native multi-currency, scenarios you can throw away, and a constant comparison of plan vs. reality. Here is exactly what each piece does.

A real five-year forecast, not last month’s leftovers

Every recurring item — salary, rent, subscriptions, the once-a-year insurance bill — is modelled as an assumption. The simulator runs them forward up to five years and draws the line. When you change an assumption the line updates instantly, so you can see the consequence in months, not after a year of category drift.

Months that need to break the pattern — a bonus in November, a big one-off purchase in March — are edited in place. The rest stay on the assumption.

Forecast page — up to five years projected, with assumption types and override dots.
Accounts list with mixed currencies — checking in EUR, savings in USD, brokerage in GBP.

Multi-currency that doesn’t lose information

Hold accounts in EUR, USD, GBP — anything. Amounts are stored in their original currency and converted at display time using rates you control. That means you never lose the original number to rounding, and you can switch the displayed currency without rewriting your history.

Transfers between currencies are first-class: a single two-sided transaction logs both the outflow and the inflow, with the FX rate captured at the moment of the move.

Scenarios you can throw away

When you want to test a plan — a sabbatical, a move, a job change, a big purchase — clone your base forecast into a scenario. The scenario is a complete copy you can edit freely. Compare it side-by-side with the base, then either fold it back in or delete it.

Scenarios are not branches you have to merge. They’re sandboxes. Make as many as you want.

Budget page — actual vs forecast variance for the current month, with category drift indicators.

Reality, plotted against the plan

Logging real transactions doesn’t replace the forecast — it tests it. The budget page shows you, this month, exactly how the actual is tracking against the assumption for every category. Drift is visible early, when you can do something about it, not in a year-end summary.

The analytics page rolls the same data up across categories, accounts, and time so you can see longer-term patterns.

FAQ

Frequently asked

Is there a free trial?
Yes — 45 days, full access, no credit card required. At the end of the trial you choose a plan or your account reverts to read-only.
Can I delete my account?
Yes — you can delete your account from Settings at any time. Your data stays exportable for 30 days after deletion.
Can I export my data?
Yes. Settings → Export gives you every transaction, account, assumption, and scenario as CSV. Your data is yours.
Does Out Budget connect to my bank?
Not yet. Today you log transactions manually or import via CSV. Direct bank connections (Plaid / GoCardless / TrueLayer) are on the roadmap — vote on it if you want it sooner.
Which currencies are supported?
Any. Amounts are stored in their original currency and converted at display time using rates you control. Pricing is available in EUR and USD.
Is my financial data safe?
Yes. All data is encrypted in transit and at rest, hosted on Supabase with row-level security so no other user can see your data — not even by accident. We never sell or share your data. See the Security page for the full breakdown.

The web app is fully responsive and works well on mobile. Native iOS and Android apps are on the roadmap.
